Colorful Indian fusion wedding on the West Coast

Colorful Indian fusion wedding ceremony

I’ve known Riddhi and Evver for a couple of years now, and they are some of the sweetest, most down to earth, and loving people I have ever met. They love backpacking and exploring the outdoors, hanging out with their friends and family, but most notably, they love each other so completely and unconditionally. Simply put, they are the best, and it has been an absolute privilege to be their friend.

They have always been so incredibly supportive of my business, even from the very beginning—and I would consider them one of my first real couples! So when they asked me if I would shoot their wedding, I was absolutely thrilled and honored to be a part of their big day.

A wedding to remember

Despite COVID-19 delaying their original wedding plans, everything about Riddhi and Evver’s spring Indian fusion wedding was colorful, fresh, and fun. From Riddhi’s two stunning lehenga sets (talk about an outfit change!) to the outgoing group of family and friends that danced the night away with them on the dance floor, their wedding was simply perfect. They even included thoughtful and unique details like Evver’s name tattooed in henna on Riddhi’s finger and Evver’s handwritten vows—my heart!

While weddings can often get derailed from pre-planned timelines, we successfully followed the timeline we created together without a hitch!

The day started with getting ready photos for the gentlemen. They got ready at the top of the Pacific View Tower, finding a small golden horse statue to pose with in their portraits and popping some bubbly to commemorate the big day. Once the bride’s hair and makeup was done, we snapped a few getting ready photos of her putting on her red lehenga set and her maid of honor helping her put on her fierce Louboutin heels.

We quickly moved along to the first look, where the couple had an intimate moment alone to love on each other, appreciate the moment, and take a deep breath before we dived into wedding party and family formals. And my oh my, the way Evver looked at Riddhi had my heart melting. It was absolutely worth building in a little extra time in the timeline to allow them to have this moment to connect.

Once wedding party and family formals were over, the rest of the day was smooth sailing. Riddhi and Evver shared their vows in front of their closest friends and family, enjoyed their cocktail hour, snuck away with me for some intimate golden hour newlywed portraits, listened to sweet toasts from family and friends, cut their cake, and danced until the night was over.

Their wedding planning advice

After their amazing day, I asked the couple to share with me a few things about their wedding planning experience that could help other newly engaged couples planning their own weddings. Here’s what they had to say:

Emma: How did you choose your vendors and what attracted you to them?

Riddhi & Evver: We went with an all inclusive venue to help us with wedding planning stress! The venue included catering, drinks, wedding day coordinator, florist, cake, and DJ. We then just had to pick a makeup/hair artist, photographer, and dresses, which we did from looking at most recent work on Instagram.

Emma: What are you glad you splurged on in your budget?

Riddhi & Evver: Definitely the lehenga sets and shoes for me. And the open bar and Saturday evening reception for Evver.

Emma: Would you recommend doing a first look to other couples?

Riddhi & Evver: YES!!!

Emma: Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?

Riddhi & Evver: I wish I would have checked-in on the photo booth order from the venue. But overall, we had a great time at our wedding—photo booth or not!

Emma: What is one piece of advice you’d give to a couple planning their wedding right now?

Riddhi & Evver: Brides—Get your own space to get ready with your MOH! Draw boundaries with non-bridal party guests and stick to it. I guarantee people will try to push your boundaries and "hangout" in the same room as you.
